21' TURBINE POWERED DAYCRUISER
Welcome to our website. This is Yates Wong, owner of IDS (Innovating Design Solutions). We are based out of Prescott, Arizona and offer custom Turbine Conversions for various recreation applications. IDS has in house fabrication capabilities, conceptual design, solid modeling, and CNC programming. We have 4 Axis CNC capability, rapid prototyping, as well as traditional welded fabrication capabilities. Here is a 21' Daycruiser we have built powered by an Allison 250 317 horsepower turboshaft engine. The engine came off of Bell 206 jet ranger type helicopter. The engine is also known as T63-A-700 in US military helicopter installations. This boat was restored throughout 2003 and accommodations were made to support the gas turbine engine. There is a lot of custom work done to make the turbine boat practical, simple, affordable, and safe. It comfortably seats up to 6 people, with ample storage space underneath bow for a full day at the lake. There is enough fuel onboard to keep the fun going throughout the entire day without refueling. And by its nature, the turbine engine runs all day with little vibration and is extremely reliable.
The twin stainless steel exhaust stacks coming out of the rear hatch catches a lot of attention. It clearly says this is not another boat powered by Chevy 454. Gas turbine powered boat are quite rare to find at the local lakes. In our Video section of this website, you will find videos and sounds of these boats in operation. Turbine engines run on Jet A or JP8 jet fuel, commonly found at the local airports. They can also be setup to run on more common #2 Diesel found at local gas pumps.

This Daycrusier has been sold. However, we are working on another turbine conversion. Due to the success of this first prototype, and all the responses from many individuals and companies, IDS is working on a 26' American Offshore Catarman air entrapment hull and in process of designing the powertrain and controls system to handle the 983 horsepower turbine that we have decided to use. Our goals for this next conversion is ultimately production units of an affordable, high performance recreation turbine powered CAT with speeds up to 110+ MPH, turbine reliability, simple operation, and excelent low speed manuverability. Here are some pictures of this new turbine conversion. The American Offshore hull has proven over many years its stable high speed handling, smooth ride, and has demostrated to be very forgiving at speed.
