The American Flag was raised at the Monument on Loyalty Day - May 1, 2010 along with the POW - MIA flag and the Arizona Flag.

Four years of hard work come together to raise the Flag. We still need your help. We are half way there. Phase 1 is nearly complete. Stop by and have a look. You can also follow our progress here.

The Prescott Valley Town Council has dedicated the land and approved the site for the monument between the Civic Center and Police Department building.

The design concept will include elements of meditation and contemplation to honor the people who have served our nation in all branches of military without naming specific individuals or wars/conflicts as this artistic message will be all-encompassing, for all who have served or will serve in the future.

The Prescott Valley Military Service Monument Committee is undertaken by the local Prescott Valley service clubs as well as the businesses of Prescott Valley. We are working with a variety of organizations including DAV, VFW, American Legion, Marines, Air Force, Submarine Group, Korean War Veterans, and Underaged Military Service Veterans, just to start. All service organizations are invited to work together to move this project forward.

The fund raising goal to complete the project has been set as $120,000. The committee will ask the public for contributions as this project will not be funded by the taxpayers.

The Walk of Honor Eligibility

The Walk of Honor is far more than a fund raiser. It is part of the way the community can honor our veterans. Therefore it must be understood that the red "bricks of honor" are for veterans only.

The Business and Corporate bricks are yellow and intended to demonstrate support of veterans and will be a part of the border of the walkway.

"Military group honors dentist with plaque"

The PV committee members honored Dr. J. Brett Mangum, DDS, for buying 27 bricks that will line the walkway of the Prescott Valley Military Monument.

Mangum, who served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy during the war in Iraq, bought the most bricks so far, said Messersmith, teasurer for the committee.
The bricks are inscribed with the name of a member of a veteran, the branch of service and dates of service.

Mangum bought a brick for himself and 3 family members: his father, brother Rustin of Virginia, and grandfather Claud, of Utah. Mangum is a contract dentist at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott and has bought bricks on behalf of many of his patients. He said he thought this was a good way to honor veterans and the monument is a great project.
