Public Obedience Classes
The Kay-9 Dog Training Club holds Public Obedience Classes twice a year. They begin on the third Monday in February and in September and are held inside at the Armory in Ponca City. Cost for this 9 week course is $40.00. Applications will be available at your vet’s office or may be downloaded from the icon below. This application must be filled out by your vet to indicate that your dog has received all of his or her shots.
The first meeting is for orientation and sign-up and begins at 7:00 p.m. Subsequent Monday class times will depend on how many people we have sign up. We some times divide into 2 classes. We require a collar and 6 foot nylon leash. Leashes and training collars are sold at Orientation.
In these classes, we teach the basics of socialization, heeling on leash, sit, down, stay, stand and come. All of our teachers are volunteers (no one is paid). They have all earned at least one AKC Obedience Title with some having earned up to the top Titles awarded. Our teachers have also gone to at least one AKC Obedience Training Seminar.
Training helps a dog to become a better member of society, as well as, your family. It gives him a job of your choosing rather than one of his own. |
