Family Group Sheet Instructions

  • Copy and paste the codes below to a blank page in any word processing program. Windows Notepad works great because it will automatically save the file in the correct format.
  • Fill in your family names, dates, etc.
  • Add your email address and any links back to a pedigree chart or other family group sheets.
  • The Family Group Sheet can be used alone.
  • You can add or delete to adjust the number of children as needed.
  • Be sure you move the tabs around to fix the spacing when you add info.
  • Save it as an ASCII DOS text file under the file name of your choice, "______.htm"
  • Upload it to your web space.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. How do I create a link with another page?

    Links to other web pages aren't hard, as long as you get all the pieces in order. Choose the words you want to be inside the link. Example: See the Family Group Sheet.

    The name of the file goes between the quote marks. The file name would change depending on where you are sending them. If the page is NOT in the same directory or an outside link, the easiest thing to do is put the entire web address inside the quotes beginning with the http:// etc. Don't forget the second quote mark or the </A> at the end or it messes up your WHOLE page.

    2. How do I change the background color?

    Inside the <body> tag there is a code that says bgcolor="#ffffe8"Change the ffffe8 to the six character color code of your choice. Here are a few. No, they don't make any sense.
