Three Words... "Gargle, Rinse and Repeat."

Well 2005 has officially begun and what better way to bring in the new year than a trip south of the border to paradise. Seis personas total were fortunate enough to partake in this inaugural excursion. Of this total tres were "Cabo Rookies". This was also my first trip ever during the month of Enero...and it was quite nice indeed. Okay, for anybody who has ever made the trip you know very well that it is virtually impossible to do "everything" in one short week. In my opinion however, we did a lot. The only "regularly scheduled" venture we did not fulfill was a fishing trip. Those things happen. Some factors were in our control while others were out of our control. There's always Abril. So on with a few highlights...
Luckily Sammy was in town doing his
final of the New Year's trip in town. Thanks to Jorge for standing in line
the evening before to purchase our tickets. What a performance (especially
for the "rookies" in our group). Only request I have is that it would have
been nice to actually have consumed my first waborita instead of wearing it (you
know who you are). I love having sole editing power of the content here!
The Roadhouse has
definitely become a standard on every trip lately. It is great to see
Perla and Nancy whenever possible. Of course the food and cocktails along
with the local atmosphere make this an always unforgettable experience. By
the way Nancy...muchas gracias for the ride to the aeropuerto! Lunch is
definitely on me in Abril.
Of course it goes without saying that Tanga Tanga is always the
highlight of everyday in Cabo! Brad my friend, you are always an EXCELLENT
HOST. There is absolutely no better place in Cabo to spend time with local
friends while partaking in a cool afternoon beverage...or two.
Todos Santos still has that great
isolated beach. Imagine that! It was a great break to venture up the
highway that day if only to cruise around and have some great carnitas at
Barajas. Okay Chris (aka lil' nig) they were out of toilet paper...
Once again...it's good to be king.
By the way, I do not remember seeing any "belly-up" bovines on the way up there
this time. Guess that was the carne special we saw in town that afternoon.
Whatever doesn't kill you just makes you stronger.
Okay, I think we have lost
count...exactly how many Cabo Iced Teas is this now? Alex, once
again...damn impressive! I don't know how else to put it.
Gorgonzolla rules!
Of course there were more photos and the are available upon request. I tried to show the highlights (at least for the ones we have photos of). Guess you'll just have to read between the lines here.
- APRIL 2005 -
No pictures available from this trip as I left the camera home. Big Papa has a few "good" photos that may, or may not, be posted when they become available. A week of warm weather, great food, and cool beverages...how can you go wrong with that? Of course there were many fiestas!
- JUNE 2005 -
I have got to remember to bring that digital camera along! Oh well...if you snooze you lose I guess. Pictures or not this was a great trip "home". One thing I have learned over these many years is that a lot of things change but those things that really matter do remain. As this was a solo trip down most of the week was spent socializing with good friends and even making a few new ones as well. That IS Cabo! What a good time it was to venture up to Pablo Loco's casa to enjoy a home cooked meal, a "few" beverages, and the awesome view. Paul is such a great host that he even has a pool for the dog to cool off in. Jimmy, we have to put a can of refrigerant in your van next time. It goes without saying that the daily walk over to Tanga Tanga is always a daily highlight. Great to see you again George and Mary! Of course I had to venture out to The Roadhouse one evening to see Perla and the girls. Thank you again for the ride to the airport (can you show Nancy how you drive?) Maybe next trip I'll try the city bus again Ralph...maybe. Like Kenny said, I don't want to end up in La Paz. I think those bulldogs at the Shrimp House need to be put on a leash.
- OCTOBER 2005 -
Well, counting yours truly, there were a total of eight (8) personas in my group on this last trip down south. As nearly everyone attending had previous Cabo experience it worked out where everyone was free to choose their own form of both daily and nightly entertainment. On a few occasions we did all meet up to do things as a "whole" unit as it were. Some arrived earlier than the rest and others departed after some had already left. The time in between was, to say the least, "memorable". If you had trouble remembering there were always enough people around to help you remember and usually pictures to prove it.
There were two (2) main goals for the group on this trip: 1. Fishing 2. Jungle Bar Anniversary
As there was a tournament in town during our visit AND the fact that we had seven people confirmed to want to fish...a bit of work needed to be done. So Mary, many many thanks for hooking us up on Ed & Deb's boat (46' Reel Danger ). Everyone had a great time! 6 fish hooked and 4 actually boated --3 Dorado and 1 rather nice Wahoo which weighed in around 20 kilos. Now, do I even need to mention the awesome meal that followed the following evening upstairs at The Fish House? Well, I will! Brad, my friend, superb as always. Many thanks from everyone in the group!

Yes, quite a fun day of fishing. Even the women caught some fish as well (of course the men were there to assure they did not screw up). Then, of course there was the yearly anniversary bash over at the Jungle Bar. 8 years now! Good job Seth. I remember being there right after you first opened years ago. I also remember being able to make it well into the morning while enjoying the fiesta. Time has taken it's greedy toll however and it seems that anymore I do good just to show up for a few cocktails. Nonetheless...a fun time had by all. Period!

It was a terrible moment when the vodka fell to the ground. (sigh) I guess a guy could have bought a couple of more bottles to replace those that broke but it must have been fate...it simply was not meant to be, at least for this trip. There is always January. Karaoke down at What's Up can, and did, take your voice away. I do not snore! There is more than one place to eat a quesadilla (remember that Sooz)! Remember...WATCH OUT FOR THOSE BULLDOGS!
Adios for now and many thanks to ALL local friends in Cabo! Truly...!!!
