"FLY HOOKER" FISH REPORT FOR 12 FEBRUARY, 2004
"Buffalo, Chris, Steve and Brett were fishing the "Fly Hooker" today, and it was a very late go since it was at the last moment. Buffalo and Chris live here and are timeshare salesmen (don’t let their mothers know!) and had thought that the boss was going to let them use his boat for today’s trip, but it was already booked. I got the call at 7:30 this morning and had Manuel call Phillipe (Juan’s day off) to work as deckhand. The guys showed up at 8:30 and had a bottle of Vodka (Chris) and a case and a half of beer. Buffalo was cracking jokes to Manuel and Phillipe right away and had them laughing really quick! Off they went and at 11:30 Manuel called on the phone and said that they were coming in at noon, there was no more booze left! Apparently Chris had broken the bottle of Vodka and had made a big dent in the beer supply. Of course, they were tired of catching fish as well! Buffalo said that they had hooked 19 Dorado. They only kept a few and released the rest, but t he fish were all in that 10-15 pound range. Buffalo was impressed but did complain that since it was his day off he thought he should not have had to work so hard. Chris got the biggest fish of the trip, but he stole the turn from Buffalo. The fish were found about 10 miles out of the lighthouse on the Pacific side, almost due south. There were about 10 other boats working the school (no dead whale). It was a great day and everybody was happy."
After fishing Brad, as usual, was kind enough to have his cooks upstairs at the Fish House prepare a good portion of our catch for us...as usual the food was excellent. If you are ever in Cabo you have to stop by Tanga Tanga for drinks and The Fish House for dinner. You will NOT be disappointed!
The Fly Hooker boat and crew were, without question, the BEST!
-APRIL 2004-
Went out on the Fly Hooker again on this last trip down to Cabo. Our half-day venture netted 5 yellow fin tunas. At one point in the day we had three fish on three different poles simultaneously. That's fishing! Marine life was abundant once again as we saw sea turtles, whales, and several hundred dolphin. A good day was had by all. Once again Manuel and Juan proved their fishing skills!

A day out on the ocean and a few days at la playa , all in the sun...oouch, proved to make this yet another relaxing getaway. Do I need to mention the "other" nights out on the town? Probably not. AND I WON'T!

Of course there were the meals. The boys at The Fish House made our catch of tuna come alive! Down at AJ's Alex really put together a culinary delight for us on two separate nights. Watch out for the Cabo Ice Tea....an excellent drink but they will sneak up on you. Put it all together and it adds up to yet another great trip.
-JUNE 2004-
First off, no pictures to post from this last visit...at least none I care to post. Wow, it was a warm one this last month down in the desert. I mean like July warm, if not for the offshore breeze who knows how 'frumundered' it may have been. This last jaunt was more about relaxing and visiting than anything else. As always the agenda was easy to live up to. The only negative part of the trip was the flight down. An hour late leaving Seattle due to broken jetway and almost 1 1/2 hours late leaving L.A. It seems some lady checked in for the flight and never boarded the plane. Of course the flight was full and the ground crew had to dig her four pieces of luggage off the plane. By the time we finally did make it to Cabo Angeles had already gone as I had no way to reach her and I had to take the dreaded 'tourist bus' into town. Again, it was full and took another two hours to reach the hotel. It took a monumental effort down at Tanga Tanga that evening to get over the days adventure. Oh well...no bad days right! 'Big Papa' Dave was down and it was great to stop around town visiting. Brian Flynn was playing at AJ's one night and Ange even sang a few numbers (gotta love that gorgonzola sauce). A big thanks to George for the invite on the fishing trip. As nice as it is to cruise town nothing beats a day out on the ocean!
-OCTOBER 2004-
Well the final trip for 2004 is officially in the books. Normally I would be anticipating the regularly scheduled December trip but that will be postponed until January, 2005. Big Sooz and Thomas made the trip south this year and I think that I am safe in saying that, once again, a good time was had by all! Our fishing trip this time was on the Mucho Bueno and we had a great time. Thanks again Mary...take good care of the pup. It was especially nice as Brad was able to take time out and join us. I've said it before...it is great to hang around town and socialize with good friends but to have the opportunity to spend a day at sea fishing is a special treat indeed! Tom had a habit of catching the Bonitas a bit early in the day and, of course, we had to give him a hard time but towards the end of the day the Dorado started hitting. 4 were caught in all.

My job was to feed the local pelican population on the way back.

We also did our fare share of heading down to the Mango Deck to enjoy
the ever popular 'buckets-o-beer' at la playa...

Once again the guys up at The Fish House cooked some of our catch and, as usual, it was FANTASTIC! Thanks for everything Brad! Erika joined us for dinner that evening and it was a special treat to spend time visiting with her again. She is a good friend. Alex, over at AJ's Restaurant, had recently arrived back in town after being in Vancouver, B.C. with Ange and was in the process of giving the restaurant a face-lift but he pulled it together in time to serve us a most wonderful meal one evening.
Another highlight for me personally was to venture out to The Roadhouse to visit with Perla and Nancy one evening. There will definitely be more trips there next visit.
I realize I say this over and over but the fact remains that visiting Cabo is always very special! The only 'gray-cloud' for the entire vacation was the trip home. Normally Alaska Air is dependable with regards to their flight schedules. Not so this time. I'll make a very long story short and simply say that we were scheduled to arrive home Monday night at 11:30pm and our actual arrival time home was Tuesday morning at 11:30am. 12 hours late. But hey, the problems were mechanical in nature and were legit so I guess I cannot bitch to bad about that. So...goodbye to 2004 and thanks for the memories. I know 2005 will be just as exciting and memorable!
