Assignment: Two page minimum essay in 3rd person that discusses how major characters in the Iliad reflect stereotypical characters in modern society. The first paragraph must end with a thesis statement.

Assignment: Write a ten line imagery poem using images you have already created. The first eight lines are to be in blank verse and two quatrains that present the images: one quatrain is to be negative, one is to be positive. The last two lines are to be a couplet in pentameter that sum up or state the theme of the first two quatrains.

Take a look at this if you are thinking about going to College.

• There is a great difference between what colleges list as academic requirements to apply vs. what is recommended to be admitted. With that in mind, college admission officers prefer to see four years of sequential and progressive credit in the five core academic disciplines (math, science, history, foreign language and English).  Anything less is considered academic “gapping” and thus not as rigorous.
• Where appropriate (and based on ability level), students should engage the most challenging curriculum available. College admission officers and college counselors are unilaterally asked to “rate” a student’s curriculum choices (less than average, average, college preparatory, rigorous, and most rigorous available). The rating has significant affect on the decision making process.  It is often better to have a 3.1 GPA with a rigorous curriculum rating than to have a 3.5 GPA in an average curriculum.
• Students who exhibit “core discipline mastery” (enrolling in the most rigorous course available in each respective discipline. For example, Math=AP Calculus BC) in one or more subjects will gain favor in the review process.
• Where possible, a B- or better in an AP or Honors course is generally better than an A in a college preparatory course. Colleges very much want to see students stretch their ability level and intellectually challenge themselves.
• Remaining engaged with your chosen modern language is highly valued by admission review committees. 
• Writing skills are essential. Enroll in a full compliment of reading and writing intensive courses, especially English and history.
• GPA trend is an important issue to keep in mind. Most admission officers expect students to become more academically mature from year to year, thus increasing their achievement level.
• College admission officers will determine how successful a student is in the context of the school and overall curriculum opportunities.
