Scholars Bowl

 

The Scholars' Bowl is a question-and-answer academic game played by teams of high school students nationwide. 

 

 

We went to Oswego High School in Oswego, KS November 13th, 2003 to compete in our first Scholars Bowl last year. We made it to the finals and then dropped out. Our next  competition was Monday the 17th of November, 2003 in Cherryville Kansas.

We went to Oswego High School in Oswego, KS November 1st, 2004 to compete in our first Scholars Bowl this year. 

Congratulations to the CHS Scholar's Bowl Team. The Varsity team, Ruth Babb, Ian Blair, Andrew Cross, and John Yowan finished in third place at the Oswego Tournament. The Junior Varsity Team, Tyler Bockover, Vinsent Lau, Jake McEwen, Zack Wehlage, and Matt Willis finished in First Place.

 


 

 

November 18, 2004

The CHS Scholar’s Bowl team was unstoppable Thursday night when they finished 8-0 at a tournament of wits at Baxter Springs.
The varsity team of Ruth Babb, Andrew Cross, Seth Galemore and Chance Moyer popped off answers to math, science, social studies, fine arts and current events questions in eight rounds of team to team competition. Fort Scott finished second with a 7-1 record and Baxter Springs finished third at 6-2.

The junior varsity performed admirably considering they competed with only three players Thursday night.

Coach Mike Bruner added "they have missed two art related questions two meets in a row so I spent my hard earned money this past weekend on an art book but really the kids have been doing wonderful."
