Editorial
The Chinese vice
foreign minister, Wang Yi said on September first that American policy towards North Korea was the biggest problem to finding a peaceful
solution to the North Korean nuclear crisis. He also said that the United
States must make its positions to the problem clearer.
I agree with what the
Chinese official said because the Bush administration has said that North Korea
must dismantle its nuclear program before discussions can begin on any benefits
it might get from the dismantling of the program.
North Korea said it
will give up its nuclear program but they want the United States to offer a
nonaggression treaty first.
The United States says it will not change its North Korea policy, despite claims by top Chinese official, Wang Yi that its approach is the main obstacle to a resolution of the nuclear issue. The U.S. says North Korea is "nuclear blackmailing" for a non-aggression pact with the US, as well as economic and diplomatic rewards.
In my opinion this is a problem that the United States can easley solve. If the U.S. would just offer a nonaggression treaty with North Korea first they would give up the nuclear program and there would no longer be this issue with North Korea.
This is why I agree
with the Chinese vice foreign minister on the United States being an obstacle
in the Korean talks.
