I. Troy Under Attack, Are We
Really Safe? – Yesterday Agamemnon, King of the Greeks, said to his soldiers,
after having a dream with a message from Zeus “Cronus’ son has trapped me in
madness,” He continued saying, “He bowed his head that I
should never embark for home till I had brought the walls of Ilium crashing
down.” Agamemnon then tested his army by saying they were going home. His soldiers began heading for the ships when Athena convinced Odysseus to rally and shame the Greek army into staying. II. Paris Challenges Menelaos – Yesterday it was reported that Paris of Troy had challenged Menelaos of Greece. According to the Report Paris challenged Menelaos to a duel and whoever won would be awarded Helen. Priam swore an oath with Agamemnon to respect the results of the duel. Paris started the duel by throwing his spear at Menelaos but it did not pierce Menelaos’ shield. |
Greek Hero fights Trojan. Menelaos then threw his own spear that did not have any
effect on Paris. Menelaos then tried to kill Paris with his sword but Paris
was taken away from the fight by a strange cloud. As they dueled Menelaos
began to win but was soon shot with an arrow by a Trojan named Pandaros and
the truce was broken. When interviewed he said, “Athena told me to shoot Menelaos so I did.” The arrow only
grazed Menelaos but it was just enough to break the truce. III. Apollo Angered – A few days ago Apollo took out his anger by spreading plague through the Greek troops because of Agamemnon’s refusal to return the daughter Chryseis of his priest. |
When Agamemnon learned from a seer why
Apollo was mad he agreed to give the daughter back, but wanted compensation.
This angered the Greek Hero Achilles, according to reports. After exchanging threats Agamemnon took Achilles
prize woman, Briseis. During an interview with Achilles he said “I have gone
to my mother to help me against Agamemnon.”
IV. Who Does Zeus Support?According to Troy, Zeus
supports them. However Agamemnon claims Zeus supports him. He said in his
last speech “Cronus’ son… bowed his
head that I should never embark for home till I had brought the walls of
Ilium crashing down.” Achilles’ mother has gone to Zeus to persuade him to make
the battle go badly for the Greeks, so they will see that they should not
have dishonored him. At around the same time Zeus sent Agamemnon a dream
saying that he would help the Greeks win. |
