Our MissionOur staff, students and community must have technological tools
readily available to maximize their learning. Toward this end, students and staff should
have the capability to access, share and process information anywhere, anytime through a
variety of network structures. This concept of a "virtual school" enables the
learner to actively participate without regard to physical location. Students "entering" any South Sioux City School, whether
virtually or physically, should be able to access a variety of resources. These resources
would directly support our curriculum, as well as provide remediation, enrichment, and
extensions. Staff members should also have access to the same student resources.
In addition, they should have electronic management tools that permit them to effectively
and efficiently perform their duties. Community members would also tap in to this pool of learning
resources, as well as enjoy the ability electronically to instantly view their child's
academic progress and pertinent information about the school program. Support Services direct information and resources through channels with diverse characteristics. These channels, however diverse, ultimately serve the same student population and utilize much of the same information served by the schools. This common focus should be the thread that binds the information technology effort put forth by both learning and support services, and centers primarily around the needs and desires of staff to be as efficient as possible with no duplication of efforts.
