You have won a shopping spree of $500, including tax and shipping. The only catch is that you will lose the entire prize if your total bill including tax and shipping is under $495 or over $500. Do you think you can handle it?

By the end of this lesson you will complete the following:

• Visit all sites (stores) listed in the resources.
• Purchase a minimum of 1 item per store.
• Record your purchases on the given order sheet. You may download or print the Order Sheet here.
• Calculate your subtotal for each item, the required tax for the entire order (6.25%), shipping for the entire order (we will use 5% for all orders) and find the total amount spent including shipping and tax. If this is less than $495 or higher than $500, you will need to adjust your purchases.
• Write a one page paper about what you have learned from this project. Include information about secure online ordering and discuss why this is important. Also include your vision of shopping on the Internet in 2020.

  The Process

  To accomplish this task, you will:

  1. Read through the entire assignment.
  2. Print a copy of the order sheet to record your purchases.
  3. Click on your first resource and search it for items you would like to buy.
  4. Record the entire URL from the location line at the top of the screen.
  5. Record the full product name and product number (if given).
  6. Record the price, quantity, and calculate the subtotal.
  7. While you are shopping, investigate the ordering procedure and record what you learn about the security of ordering information.
  8. After each purchase estimate how much you have already spent and how much you must still spend.
  9. When you have ordered from all of the sites, compute the subtotals, total, tax, shipping, and the grand total on a separate sheet of paper - BE ORGANIZED and SHOW ALL WORK!!!.
  10. If the grand total is not within your price range, revisit a site and choose an item that will correct the error.
  11. When your shopping trip is finished, type a one page reaction paper with the following requirements: 1)Explain what you have learned from this project. 2)Briefly summarize the process you went through to complete the webquest. 3)Include information about secure online ordering and why you think this is important. 4)Also include what you think shopping on the Internet may be like in the year 2020.
