StartEmUp
Description
StartEmUp was written to quickly restart the items in my Startup Items folder. Some programs, like Disk First Aid and some installers, kill off any running applications. OK, I can understand
that this is necessary, but why don't you put them back? ("If you don't have time to put it back, then you don't have time to get it out." my parents used to say.) So, I wrote StartEmUp to
quickly do it for me.
Then, stopping selected processes became important to me. And then cleaning out the Temporary Items folder of all files, or the Recent Applications folder of orphaned aliases... well, just
read the ReadMe for the complete rundown on what it can do, OK?
With all the additions I have decided that StartEmUp is now $10 shareware, but this is a one-time-only fee and future versions will be free to registered users.

This is the best thing since sliced bread (What was the best thing before sliced bread?) when it comes to Macintosh programming. If you have any interest in writing your own
applications you definitely need to at least take a look at REALbasic. 'Nuff said.
Requirements
- Any Macintosh. I run it on a IIx and a PowerMac 9500 clone.
- System 7.5.5 or later. I run it on 9.0 as well. It may work on earlier versions of the Mac OS, but I haven't tried so I won't make the claim that it does.
- 1.5 MB of free memory. Yeah, I know. What can I say... REALbasic hasn't matured completely and building small applications isn't something it's known for. I'm told this will be fixed
REAL soon now.
Features
- Quickly starts all selected items in a folder, which defaults to Startup Items, but you can select any folder. And, for version 2, StartEmUp will remember any folder you tell it to
startup with.
- You can now tell StartEmUp to automatically select applications, control panels, or system extensions. You can also select all or none of these.
- Can also "ShutEmDown", or kill off running processes on your Mac. Thanks again to Bob Clark (author of Peek-a-Boo, an excellent process monitor/manager) for his informative assistance.
- Can also "CleanEmOut", or do mass file deletions.
- Now shows type and creator codes in all lists.
