Mission Trip '04

“I loved volunteering at Victory Mission because it gave me the chance to do something I would normally not get to do. Seeing the people from the shelter was a surprise because I am never around people in that much need. I feel so thankful for what I have. Leading chapel was really neat. We weren’t sure how the people would respond but it turned out awesome. I feel that we really touched their hearts and led them closer to the Lord.”—Hialee Howard

“Our Mission Trip was a great experience for me. It makes me feel really good about myself when I had the opportunity to help others. I felt we accomplished many things at Victory Mission.”—Randi Howard

“The Mission Trip to me was a great experience. These people really needed people to help them, and I’m glad that we were the people to help them.”—Taylor Howard

“I’m glad that I had this opportunity to see people living a very different kind of life from myself. It made me realize how fortunate I am and to appreciate the things I had taken for granted. I enjoyed helping the people we met there. My favorite part was the chapel service we led. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but most of the people seemed to really like it. At one point in the service we took prayer requests. Some of the men only had praise reports just for being alive another day. It really shows that we should be more thankful for all the things we have.”—Lauren Bromley

“This experience for me was very ministering and fun to me. We did a lot of things but two experiences really stuck out in my mind. The kitchen staff from the Victory Trade School Restaurant was a lot of fun to get to know. They were from the men’s recovery program trying to learn skills for future value. They were friendly and one was always talking to me. Some of them exchanged jokes with us. It was an experience that I enjoyed. Also working and doing stuff in the clothing warehouse. Seeing the sacks of clothing grow but the bails grew more. That was our goal. I thank everyone for their support.”—Daniel Gehm

“Our mission trip was great! We got to have lots of contact with people that we certainly don’t see everyday. We also had several chances to serve the Lord in many different areas. The best part of the trip for me was the chance to lead a chapel service for the people staying in the homeless shelter.”—Adam Hampton

“Thank you for helping make this mission trip possible. We got the opportunity to go and be the hands and feet of Jesus. We saw many different types of people and experienced several situations that forced us out of our comfort zone. Throughout these times we were able to help people and in return we learned a lot about ourselves, the other members of our team and the world we are called to serve and love.”—In Christ, Matt Pippenger

“You have a right to be proud of the ten students & three sponsors who went on this mission trip. None of us really knew what to expect because none of us had been to Victory Mission. I knew that we needed to be patient with each other and the people we came in contact with at Victory Mission. The students and I had done a lot of time in youth group prior to leaving Ada about how we should act, treat others, treat our own group with our patience grew short, and a lot of time spent in prayer (since January of this year). The students & sponsors did a great job of working with these volunteers and people we came in contact with at Victory Mission. Our group was not only representing First Presbyterian Church Youth & College Group, but as well as First Presbyterian Church of Ada, the town of Ada, Indian Nations Presbytery & the state of Oklahoma. We thank you for allowing us this opportunity to go on this mission trip.”—Janey Wilson, DCE
