Jeff Frederick has been Choir Director of First
Presbyterian Church since 1990. Jeff graduated from Southwest Texas State
University in San Marcos, Texas, with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in
1962 and from North Texas University in 1967 with a Master of Music degree.
He joined the music faculty of East Central University in 1966 and served as
Director of Choral Activities directing choirs, musical comedy, opera and
teaching voice and conducting until his retirement in 1998.
His wife Doris is a graduate of Mary Hardin Baylor
University in Belton, Texas. In addition to teaching class piano, private
piano and piano pedagogy at East Central University until recently, Doris
maintained a private piano teaching studio for many years in her home. She
taught many very successful students who excelled in piano competitions in
Texas and Oklahoma. Doris is a fine accompanist and accompanies many singers
and instrumentalists at the church and in the community.
Jeff and Doris have one son Chris who is a
successful art teacher in the Lone Grove school system. His wife Diana is the
choral director at Plainview High School. Chris and Diana have two children.
