American 10 Wheeler

Home Up Frisco 1522 Handcars American 10 Wheeler 1880 Consolidation Rolling Stock

By far the most common style of steam locomotive built in the United States was the 4-4-0 otherwise known as the "American". Over 25,000 locomotives where built with this wheel arrangement.  The American soon grew into the 4-6-0 otherwise referred to as the 10 wheeler.  Approximately 16,000 locomotives with this wheel configuration where built.  The 10-wheeler provided better traction than the American and was used for freight as well as passenger service.

Here is a picture of the 10 wheeler that I am currently modeling.  Click on it to see it in a larger version.

First pictures of the 10 wheeler

After much trouble with textures, finally something that lookes good. NOTE the appropriate texture on the light box.

Comming Along

Can't have an Old Locomotive without some Old Passenger Cars. Getting a good start on this.

Getting started on some interior work.

10 Wheeler working hard to pull the passenger cars up the 1.3% grade.

Hitting the bridge causes some soot to ignite in the stack

The cab is comming along, still need lots of work on the textures.
