1955 Chrysler New Yorker Newport Deluxe 2-Door Hardtop
Original Idaho Survivor - 84K Miles - Ready for Summer Cruising

This is a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Newport Deluxe 2-Door Hardtop, powered by the famous Chrysler Hemi 331 V8 engine rated at 250hp. It is a totally rustfree Idaho car with only 84K miles, and is a real Survivor with an amazing original patina. It is mechanically in excellent condition, and is ready for summer cruising. It was sold originally in the small town of Rexburg, Idaho, and had only two owners between 1955 and 2006. It has been stored inside for its entire life, and the condition clearly reflects the high desert climate of southern Idaho. What a find!

This black beauty is equipped with all the options, including two-tone exterior, two-tone leather interior, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats, tinted glass, and AM radio. Both the exterior and interior are in fine condition for their age, with original patina and honest wear that can't be replicated. The paint is all original with a nice, deep lustre, but shows numerous small nicks and scratches that are not visible in the photos. The body and undercarriage are all completely free of rust and rot, with original panels and trim all around. The leather interior is still supple and intact, with only minor cracking in a couple of wear spots on the driver's side (visible in the photos). The original carpet is in fantastic shape, and has obviously been protected by floor mats since new. Likewise, the door panels, rear panels, and headliner are all in fantastic, original condition, and need nothing for driving or the occasional show. Although not so beautiful as the rest of the car, the engine has never been detailed and is completely original, down to the last decal.

As you can see, I took the liberty of upgrading the wheels and tires to a set of 18" chrome alloy wheels, which were factory take-offs from a 2005 Chrysler C300. Not only do they add a tremendous WOW factor, the wider stance and modern rubber makes the car much more stable and surefooted on the road. And as a nice finishing touch, the wheels came from the factory with a vintage style Chrysler logo on the center caps. Of course for the purists, the original wheels, hubcaps, and white wall tires are included with the sale (see the last picture below).

Mechanically, the car is original in all respects, including the generator and 6-volt electric system. The engine and transmission are sound and troublefree, and move the car down the road with Hemi-powered authority. Comfort accessories all work like they are supposed to, including the fan, heater, wipers, power windows, and even the radio. Although the car doesn't have A/C, the working cowl vent and window vents keep the interior surprising comfortable even in summer. Mechanical work done within the last 500 miles inlcudes a completely rebuilt brake system (power booster, shoes, cylinders, flex lines), new dual exhaust system, new battery, rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump, cleaned gas tank, as well as miscellaneous new gaskets, filters, and fluids all around.
