1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9
Das ÜberBenz!

This is a 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SEL 6.9, which is one of just over 1800 made for the North American market between 1977 and 1980. The 6.9 was the flagship of the entire Mercedes product line, and featured a high-performance, fuel-injected 6.9 liter engine (417 cu in) with dry sump oil system and sodium-filled valves, limited slip differential, and other advanced features including a hydro-pneumatic self-leveling suspension, and the world's first production electronic anti-lock braking system. When new, the Mercedes 6.9 cost more than a Rolls Royce, and was faster than a Maserati Quattroporte.

This example is an absolutely straight and rust-free, two-owner California car, finished in Milan Brown with Tobacco Tan leather interior with Burl Walnut trim. It has been well-maintained over the years with no expense spared, and comes with the original owner's mannual, plus three file folders full of receipts and service records dating back to 1984.

For more information about the 6.9, see the Mercedes 450SEL 6.9 article in Wikipedia or the Retrospective article in Motor Trend magazine

John Frankenheimer also used a 6.9 in the famous chase scene in his movie "Ronin" with Robert DeNiro. Here is a short video clip Ronin car chase scene
