If you are known by the company you keep, then the Continental Mark II deserves highest marks. A wide swath of the rich and famous in the 1950's owned one, including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dwight Eisenhower, Barry Goldwater, Nelson Rockefeller, Frank Lloyd Wright, Spike Jones, Louie Prima, Henry Kaiser, Howard Johnson and the Shah of Iran. For sheer mass, price, and presence, it was a vehicle that epitomized 1950's America.
This example is a 1957 Mark II project car, which would be a perfect start for a Custom rod or full restoration. It recently came out of Northern California, where it was last registered in 1969. The original drivetrain was removed several years ago for restoration by the previous owner, and subsequently became separated after he passed away. The Mark II was a very rare model, and it's nearly impossible to find an unrestored example with a straight and nearly rustfree body like this one. This one came with rare, optional air-conditioning, green tinted glass, and was originally painted turquoise with matching two-tone interior. Sweet!
