Turning the Tide, The Union Cavalry at Shelbyville, Tennessee
|
|
The Battle of Shelbyville on June 27, 1863 was part of the Tullahoma Campaign where Union cavalry victories ended the Confederate domination of Federal forces.
Prior to this battle, the Confederate cavalry in the Western Theater led by dynamic and bold leaders like Nathan Bedford Forrest,
John Hunt Morgan, and Joe Wheeler dominated the Federal Cavalry. From this point forward,
Union cavalry would begin and maintain their domination of the Confederate horsemen in the Western Theatre for the remainder of the war.
