I have been collecting 3 inch CD singles, or CD3s, for many years. If you lined up all my 3" discs, they would reach more than 122 feet! This list does not include the 3" CD-ROMs in my collection. Maybe I'll add them some day. For more information about CD3s, related links & to view other formats in my collection, scroll down past the list of discs.

The following is from the Collectible Compact Disc Price Guide 2 :
Sony introduced the first variation to the compact disc format in 1987 with the introduction of the CD3. This was the recording industry's first full fledged effort in the CD-single market. The CD3 format is a small 3" diameter disc. This new size was chosen so consumers could easily distinguish CD-singles from the full length CDs. CD3s held about 20 minutes of music containing just a few tracks, and sold for about $3. It practically became extinct in the U.S. market by 1990. European and Japanese markets took to the CD3 format more than the United States. From 1988 to about 1992 the European market often made a separate 3" and 5" CD version for the same single. To this day, the Japanese market continues to widely use the CD3 format.
