Kirksville Area Habitat for Humanity
Volunteer With Our Standing Committees
Habitat's committees vary in the frequency of their meetings, but generally they meet, on average, about once a month. Here, in brief, is what each committee does, together with a person to contact for more information:
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, CHURCH RELATIONS, AND PUBLIC RELATIONS: These three committees are responsible for Habitat's fund-raising, church relationship-building, and public relations efforts. The individuals on these committees help to raise Habitat's profile in Kirksville, build strong bonds within the community, and secure Kirksville Habitat's financial future. To find out more: write to Kirksville Habitat's e-mail address or call Habitat's phone number: 665-4630. |
BUILDING: The Building
Committee oversees the planning of construction on the Habitat houses. It
plays a supervisory role: you don't have to be on it to help out with
the actual construction of the houses. |
|
The Site Selection Committee looks for properties
that would be ideal for Habitat development. The Family Selection Committee helps
select the families for Habitat's houses. Generally speaking,
these two committees meet on a less regular basis than the other three:
more frequently when sites and families need to be selected, but less
frequently when that work is done. |
FAMILY SUPPORT: This committee
helps Habitat's families, in a nurturing and educational capacity,
in the families' transition into financially independent new homeowners. |
