My retirement ceremony
April 1, 2000

This page is just a brief view of the "treatment" that most "retiring" members get during their final "get together" with co-workers and friends. You will see that a few of the "younger" guys usually try to get you tied up and cover you with a variety of different "condiments". I feel I gave the younger guys a run for their money, they weren't expecting this "ol' man" to give them such a fight!

I must say this:
Throughout my 20 years in the military, I made many great friends and I will miss them all very much!
Some I still keep in touch with by emails and phone calls, they are a part of me and I will never forget them!
We've been through some rough times together;
(Tiger Thrust exercises [the 7-day long, 12 hour shifts in our chemical suits] at England AFB, La;
nine months together during Desert Shield/Desert Storm - "Gulf War"), and it only made our friendships better!
This group in the following photos are some of the best of the best! Thanks guys for all the good
memories and when we ever cross paths again, we can BS about the good old days!

 Me and my kids after receiving my "retirement" certificate.

Do these two think they can just tie me and I won't fight - WRONG!                      Still going at it, not going down without a fight!

  Okay, they eventually got me, tied my ankles and wrists, now the                                  The water was cold, but it got the crap off!
                      nasty part begins - ketchup, mayo, mustard, hot dogs and the works!

Among the duty assignments listed above, I had several TDYs (temporary duty deployments) to:

Patrick AFB, FL (Cocoa Beach) got to go see Mickey Mouse while there and watched a Space Shuttle launch, also got to meet astronaut Sally Ride while there!
Nellis AFB (Las Vegas) had a blast getting to see the sights of Vegas and Lake Mead, but I lost my A$$ pretty quick and realized not to take more than you can afford to "throw away" when you go to a casino, but hey, working in the gaming industry is a good thing, been almost 7 yrs in the industry now!
Ft. Hood, TX (Killeen) this was the easiest TDY I ever went on, even got to go down to see Lackland AFB again after 9 yrs in the service.
Leck AB, Germany north-western Germany, near the border with Denmark, took a day trip to Denmark - ate caviar and escargo, yes that was fish eggs and snails....lol...oh yeah, I broke 3 ribs while riding a horse there (English saddle), the horse spooked and threw me into a tree as we were riding trails in the forest...that hurt like a b****.
St. Andrews, Scotland home of the world famous golf course - I'm not a golfer, so I toured the castle and monastry ruins, the locals loved our southern American accents.
RAK Lakenheath, United Kingdom about an hour north of London; had a good time here while attending an FTD class and made trips there while I was stationed at Heyford...
Davis Monthan AFB, AZ (Tucson) took a trip to Nogales, Mexico - had tacos that were NOT made with beef, but was hungry and ate them anyway....DON'T tell me what they were made with, just let me think it was something good

Thanks guys for the memories and a fond farewell!
