Since 2001, many parishioners from Holy Apostles have volunteered a Friday night (or more) to help serve meals at the River of Life Rescue Mission (formerly known as The Baltes Community Cafe within the Community House) in Boise.

Meals are mostly prepared at another location and brought to the River of Life Rescue Mission.  Servers will arrive approximately 6:50pm and help prepare the dining room, wrap silverware, butter bread, etc. before opening the doors. 

At 7:00pm the doors open and residents walk through a buffet line where the servers will provide their meals.  There's usually very light busing of tables as the residents bus their own areas.  Dish washing is mostly done by the servers as well, but occasionally some residents help with this too.

At 7:30pm the doors are closed and cleanup begins.  Everyone's done by no later than 8:00pm (usually sooner).
