Lewis-Clark Valley Chautauqua was founded as an educational program in which scholars research the lives of significant Historical Individuals and then present a monologue of the character’s life in first person. Period costume and a question and answer segment round out the presentation.
We have since expanded the program into more of a History CO-OP where we research Historical Individuals, Events, and Topics and present this history in documentaries, monologues, posters, timelines, web sites, etc. We follow many of the guidelines of National History Day organizations but competitions are not our objective. Our goal and purpose is to increase the historical awareness for the participants in the program, and also those in our community.
