Rapid Access to the Internet IGI and Other Key Genealogical Web Sites using a GEDCOM File

FamilySearcher is a windows program that can read a GEDCOM file and display a list of all names contained in the file in a spreadsheet format. Using a simple point-and-click it is possible to search the Internet IGI (International Genealogical Index) and the other resources at the LDS FamilySearch™ web site for any matching entries. Click here to download a copy of the FamilySearcher program (Version 2.2.0). This program has been tested and should work on Win 98 and above. It requires an Internet connected PC and a copy of Internet Explorer 6.0 or above. A screenshot of the FamilySearcher program running on a Windows XP computer is shown below.

The current version of FamilySearcher is 2.2.0 as of 13 Oct 2006. Check back from time to time as this program is being improved and refined. FamilySearcher is being offered at no charge to assist you with your Family History research. It will be of particular value to the LDS genealogist as it provides rapid access to Temple ordinance date information.

Click here to download a copy of the FamilySearcher program (Version 2.2.0). Once the download begins - click on the "Open File" or "Run this program from its current location" button (depending on your operating system). Wait while the FamilySearcher program is downloaded to your computer. Then follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If you have installed a previous version (earlier than 1.7.0) of FamilySearcher - please uninstall this previous version before proceeding with the installation of this new version.
