The 40th Annual West Texas Jazz Party

The West Texas Jazz Party swings into action at 8 PM on Friday, May 19th, 2006.  The second performance will be from 8 PM until midnight on Saturday, May 20, 2006. And a special Sunday afternoon performance will be held from 2 PM until 6 PM.  Year 2006 marks the 40th consecutive year for the party.  This premier musical event is being produced by the West Texas Jazz Society and will draw hundreds of jazz fans from all over the world to the MCM Elegante Hotel in Odessa, Texas for three performances of outstanding music.  Fans will be treated to performances by some of the best jazz musicians in the business.  This year’s party will include musical content ranging from the high energy of traditional Dixieland style to the artful styles of soulful blues ballads.  The party promises to be an event for the musical archives and is a “must hear” for serious jazz fans or for those with a curiosity about this purely American art form.  This year will also feature a very special Saturday afternoon jam session that will include the West Texas Jazz Society's own local musicians.  If you are or have been a jazz musician, you are invited to sit in on the 3 PM until 5 PM session.)

The All Event Patron Pass for the party is $175 per person.  This pass provides reserved seating for all 3 performances, program recognition, access to the WTJS hospitality suite and the always popular Saturday Jazz Brunch.  Patron Passes must be purchased in advance.

Nightly non-reserved tickets will be available for $45 per night at the door.

This year's party will be produced with support from the Abell-Hangar Foundation, The Arts Assembly of Midland, The Odessa Council for the Arts & Humanities, Standard Sales, Texas Commission on the Arts, Odessa American, and the Midland Reporter Telegram.
