by Marna Chvarak

My Dear Noel,

It has been almost a week since I received the phone call from your dad telling me that "Noel is gone."  Such final words with unspeakable implications.  In those first few moments, all I could see in my mind was a sunny curly haired, bright eyed little boy, full of life, brimming with promise; my baby!  How could this be?  You were always a source of utter and complete pride and joy to your parents, brothers, and entire extended family.  Noel, everyone loved you, from the day of your birth.  Your sunny disposition, sense of responsibility, keen intelligence, unique sense of humor all wrapped up in your beautiful physical presence, touched everyone who knew you.  You have left this earthly place earlier than most, but have lived an exciting full life and left many friends and people who love you.  You have served your fellow man well, Noel and I am so proud to be your Mother, or "Mammy."  Through this terrible pain, I receive comfort from the beautiful legacy you left to all who knew you; getting the very most out of every day, living life to the fullest and spreading love and joy everywhere to all people of all ages and cultures.  You are a remarkable spirit.  As long as we remember your many gifts and your love, you'll live on in our hearts forever.

'Til we meet again,
Your Loving "Mammy"

P.S.   Thank you for our afternoon by the pool sharing songs and stories from our Preschool experiences; I will cherish the memory.
