Marks Celebrates 100 Year Anniversary:
Similar to the September Song Festival, this Centennial festival will feature
live musical entertainment, food, arts and crafts, and other activities for the
family. The difference is that the festival will be held at the Courthouse on an
election year where locals campaigning will also be taking extra steps to obtain
voter approval.
Special events will
take place throughout the week of May 7th through the 12th, but Saturday will be
the main day of the celebration with the full day of activities at the
courthouse.
To be an arts and
crafts vendor at the festival on May 12th, contact eloise Figgs at 326-2661.
Politicians wishing to setup a tent or speak should contact Shawn Johnson at
326-8031. To perform at the festival, contact Mary Towner from the Dining Room
at 326-8869. For more information about the festival, contact Sharon Smith at
326-8939. --------------------

Town of Helena, AR is having Tax Trouble:
An odd news story
about the town not being able to pay it's tax bills and having the town bank
account seized appeared recently. The city is currently proposing a slight tax
hike for city residents to fix some leftover financial problems that occured
when Helena and West Helena incorporated. -------------------- Adverti$ement:
Sometimes it can be
difficult in a smaller town to meet someone new. An Internet service like
Adult Friendfinder can help because you could meet someone from a nearby
