Rosalyn Hufford
Watercolor Artist
Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Rosalyn has studied and participated in several aspects of the finearts throughout her life after being influenced by an exceptionally talented art teacher as early as the third grade. She completed classes in charcoal drawing, oil painting and pottery at Penn State University for three years. Her art activities were put on hold for several years while raising a family and later returning to work full time. In the meantime, she was introduced to watercolor painting and took up the paintbrush in her spare time. "I immediately fell in love with the beauty and freshness of transparent watercolors and all the different aspects and challenges it provides," she says. After retiring six years ago, she has been able to devote more time to painting and exhibiting her work.
Rosalyn says she gets her enthusiasm and motivation to paint from instruction books, taking watercolor classes and attending workshops. She has had the privilege of attending workshops and classes given by several watercolorists including, Carl Dalio, Joseph Bohler, Hugh Walkinshaw, Spike Ress and Joanne Tyler. She paints primarily from her own photographs in floral, portrait and landscape subjects. She just recently started exhibiting and selling her art work, but continues to paint primarily for her own fulfillment and the enjoyment of her family.
Rosalyn was awarded "Best of Show Second Place" in the 2006 VerdigrisValley Art Exhibit in Independence, Kansas. She received two blue ribbons, plus an honorable mention at the Pennsylvania Apple 'NCheese Festival in Canton, PA in October 2006. Her paintings have been exhibited for sale in the annual OK Mozart Festival and the Bartlesville Art Association Fall Fling. Her original paintings and giclée prints of any size are available for sale upon request.
