| I'm not real sure who's idea this was, but it looks like
someone is applying the joint compound with a paint roller, and
then using a squeegee to wipe the tape down !!! This is NOT the way to do it!

In most "home-improvement" literature, you will read about a "4-inch broadknife." Think about it....four inches isn't very broad. Use eight- to twelve-inch wide knives, like these.

Now THAT'S what a dry wall is supposed to look like! When
it's dry, you can apply the texture of your choice, or sand, sponge, and
paint for a smooth finish.
