M50, Monoceros, Stellarvue SV78S f6, MX7C, IDAS, 5min

 


M50 is a nice open cluster well situated in the winter sky.  Its estimated distance is around 2900 light years.  M50's magnitude of 5.9 places it within visibility of binoculars.  The majority of M50's stars are compressed within a diameter of 10 arc minutes with outlying members to 30 arc min.  The field of view with the Stellarvue is 43X34 arc minutes at prime focus of f6.  This encompasses the cluster very nicely.
