M67, Cancer

M67 is one of the oldest Open clusters known and is thought to be 10billion yrs old. M67 is peculiar in that its well above the galactic plane  Most open clusters are within the plane of the milky way..  It has a population of stars similare to Globular clusters with an abundance of red giants.  Over 500 stars are known to belong to the cluster.  M67's distance is roughly 2500 light years.
