(formerly Coon)
This former way station on the stage route from Bartlesville to Coffeyville, Kansas is actually in Nowata County, but it is very close to the Washington County border. From July 26, 1895 until October 13, 1899 it was named after nearby Coon Creek. Then it was renamed for Robert F. Wann, a prominent local Cherokee. This boom town was surrounded by the Wann oil field and once had a population of 1,200.
