PRESCOTT, AZ (May 5, 2008) – Campfire and smoking restrictions will go into effect on the Prescott National Forest beginning Wednesday, May 14, at 8:00 a.m.
Forest managers have determined that key trigger points have been reached to warrant taking these restrictive actions. These include increased forest visitor use, abandoned campfires, high winds and rising temperatures.
The Groom Creek Fire District is following suit with Prescott National Forest officials with regard to fire restrictions.
ALL FOREST RESTRICTIONS ARE EFFECTIVE ON PRIVATE LANDS WITHIN THE FIRE DISTRICT.
- Warming fires, charcoal grills, and outdoor stove fires (wood, charcoal, and coal burning) are prohibited within the fire district.
- Pressurized liquid or gas stoves, lanterns and heaters meeting safety specifications are allowed.
- Smoking is prohibited except within enclosed vehicles, buildings, or developed sites where the area is cleared of all flammable material.
