The Toddler Program at Coast Episcopal School is designed for boys and girls who are twelve months to three years of age with the goal of supporting and nurturing their natural growth and development. The program runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and children are welcome to participate in any or all days. Our environment is designed to help children develop by allowing them to build upon the world they know and understand with new and challenging daily experiences.

We believe that play is the primary occupation of children at this age and that through play, young children learn more about themselves, their peers, and their world in general. In supervised play, children gather information while feelings of fear, anger, and frustration are minimized. Through language, poetry, stories, music, art, and games, we encourage and stimulate our young children to discover and express themselves.

We at the Toddler Program at Coast Episcopal School understand that growth is orderly, structures, and predictable. However, we are also aware that all children demonstrate rates and patterns of growth specific to their individual natures. We believe that children instinctively realize their own readiness for various tasks, and we provide an atmosphere that allows children to develop at their own natural pace. This ensures that their first experience in a social, learning environment is a positive and successful one.
