Coast Episcopal Middle School offers a unique academic program that combines our strong college preparatory curriculum with educational experiences that extend beyond the traditional methods of learning. Our students are surrounded by an atmosphere of love, trust, and respect in which they can develop to their fullest potential. This supportive environment allows them to begin to define themselves as they journey into adolescence.

In the tradition of strong independent schools, Coast Episcopal Middle School continually reviews and revises its curriculum to meet the changing needs of the student body. Our newly adopted social studies approach epitomizes this philosophy by offering Middle School students courses in American history culminating in a trip to Washington, D.C. These enriching odysseys serve to cement and bring to life the information imparted in classroom study.

Our Middle School curriculum is designed to be challenging, comprehensive, and of the highest quality. The English program focuses on a balance between classic and contemporary literature with an emphasis on writing and research skills. Science stimulates students with a fully equipped lab and cutting edge learning materials. Our sixth, seventh and eighth graders are introduced to algebra and geometry in a challenging program developed at the University of Chicago.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Coast Episcopal Middle School experience stands apart from all others in that each year begins with an expertly arranged week-long retreat at Camp Bratton Green in Canton, Mississippi. We remain constantly sensitive to the transition issues facing young adolescents moving into a departmentalized, college-preparatory educational system. The week at Camp Bratton Green creates solid social bonds, challenges minds, exercises bodies, and nourishes spirits. This retreat, unique to the Middle School, provides the spirit and pace for the entire school year.
