Devil's Churn State Park is a must see while visiting the Oregon Coast. It is located south of Yachats on US 101. The park offers a great place to look at tide pools and 18 miles of hiking trails. The ocean side trail that leads to Devil's Churn is a must walk. Devil's Churn is a narrow opening in the basalt shoreline that sends waves crashing into the rock walls. When the waves crash into the rock wall it sends the water flying into the air like a geyser. On the day we were there we went at high tide and had very little wind. The best time to see Devil's Churn is right after low tide when the tide is coming in. (EVEN BETTER ON WINDY DAYS) After visiting Devil's Churn you should drive or if your up for a walk, head to the top and look out over Devil's Churn at Cape Perpetun. Cape Perpetun is the highest scenic overlook on the Oregon Coast at 800 feet high. This is a sight to see on a clear day that you should not miss. Click On Photos To View Larger |
