Snow Day 2008

So we got some good snow this week, a lot more that in the past. The kids had a fun time playing in it. On the 9th they had a snow day because the roads were pretty slick. Chris had a fun time driving to work. Tammy got word early the night before about the snow day so when Gabe came out of his room because he couldn't sleep she filled him in and he was ecstatic. Snow pictures!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year, we sure did. Chris was home from Christmas eve until New Years Day. It was a lot of fun. We went to Boondocks and played Laser tag, girls against boys (the boys won). We also wen to visit Cort and Emily and stayed one night at their house. That way we didn't have to drive back from Boise.

This post I wanted to tell you about the wonderful chef in our family, Tammy. She creates and finds such delicious recipes that we all love. Tammy posts some of her recipes on a website Recipe Zarr. Three of her recipes have ***** reviews. You can read more about her member name here. We love her so much what a great wife and mother and Chef!

Christmas Fun...

Yesterday Gabe had his Christmas Program @ school. It included many holiday songs for Christmas, Hanukkah, and winter songs. We pieced together some of the songs and wanted to share them. Gabe is on the second row from the top in a tie next to the boy in the cowboy hat. Merry Christmas!

Tammy does it again...

Tammy is a wonderful wife and mother. She does so much for her family. A few weeks ago she helped organize and execute the first grade Thanksgiving feast. It was fun Chris got off from work and was able to enjoy the feast with Gabe and his class, while Tammy kept everyone moving and getting plates of Turkey, potatoes, salad and jerky (used at the first Thanksgiving). Here is what she got for her efforts.

We have had a lot of fun this Thanksgiving weekend. We put up Christmas lights as a family, Chris was the only one on the roof. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The Holiday Season Begins

Last night Nampa had their Christmas Tree lighting in downtown Nampa. We took the kids down there when Chris got home from work. Tim came with us. It was fun the Choir from Columbia High School provided some great seasonal songs. What a great way to kick off the Christmas season. Here are some pictures from last night.

Reece & the Quik

Today Reece thought it would be fun to play in the dirt. Chris didn't like this too much, so he brought Reece in with his truck and told him not to play in the dirt. This is what he decided to do.

Tammy Published writer

Tammy recently had a letter of hers published in the Idaho Press-Tribune. We wanted to share it. (printed in October 30, 2007 edition)

We must strive to protect our children at all times

Tamara Peterson, Nampa

I recently attended the community meeting at Roosevelt Elementary to discuss the possibility of a transition home being put on Lancaster Drive.
The first thing I noticed is that Dominic Gallegos had not done his homework. When asked how he chose his location, he said he drove down Lancaster Drove looking for swing sets and tricycles. That is what helped him decide that there were no young children living on the street. Are you kidding me? Did he not see that he was a stone’s throw away from an elementary school? A park? Four subdivisions with young families?
The next thing is that even after Gallegos said he would not put the home there, people in the audience continued to say they did not believe him. Gallegos never gave us any reason to distrust him.

The fact of the matter is that even without the transition home, we still have registered sex offenders living in all of our neighborhoods. We have to watch our children. We need to know where they are at all times. I can’t count how many times I have seen young children under 6 roaming the neighborhood late in the evening without a parent in sight.
We as parents have to take a responsibility and teach our children what they need to do to protect themselves, and that there are people out there who will hurt them. It is not just the “registered sex offenders” who we need to worry about; it is also the ones who haven’t been caught. With or without the transition home, we have to protect our children at all times.
I know that transitions homes are necessary, but there are so many other possible places to have them.

Selah & Reece & the Bridge

A few weeks back we had the opportunity to go to Chris' grandmas cabin. Previously I shared some pictures from that trip. Well this is one of those that Chris photoshopped to make a little artsy. Notice how the pine trees in the middle look a little different...like a real picture. Click here for full resolution.

This morning Chris, Gabe, & Selah went with Grandpa Peterson to get straw for our autumn decorations. Now we are all ready for the fall season. Tammy helped her friend have a yard sale this morning while the others were out.

Grandmothers cabin

We went to Chris' Grandmothers cabin this weekend. It is in Pine, ID. It was fun. We were there from Friday night through Sunday. They have owned this cabin since the late 1960's. It started as a small one room cabin and then they built on a bedroom and later a dining room. We try to go up there at least once a summer. We were a little late this year. It is nice though, there is no cell phone coverage, no over the air TV (with satellite you could get it), the cabin does not have a phone, so when we are there we are pretty isolated. We did manage to catch the Boise State game on the radio though. Chris and his family have been coming up here forever. He and his brother Cort, have many memories of hiking through the sagebrush using a toy compass to find their way to the river. It is nice to be able to share those memories with our kids.

Western Idaho Fair

Fun at the Fair! Last night we went to the Western Idaho Fair. It was Family Day which meant a lot of kids. But ours had fun there. We met up with Cort and Emily and their boys and O'Dell, Grandma, and Carley. Carley brought a friend, so they tired out Dad keeping up with them. It was fun. We have gone on this family day for a few years now and it has always been great. Last night the weather was great. It was overcast, with a little wind. But not hot. That was the best part. There were a few little gusts of wind, one scared Selah a bit. But one ride on the big kangaroo and she was ready to go. Here are some pictures of the fun we had.

Ten Years.
Chris and Tammy have been married ten years today. Ten years ago Chris stumbled down the hall at his mothers house and was easily startled as she came around the corner. Tammy and her parents and brother prepared for the day in the apartment on Juniper that Chris and Tammy would soon call their first home together. Ten years ago there was no house, no minivan; just Chris and Tammy.
