Welcome to my Web site!

My name is Dave Bricker.  I am an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration and I work at Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center.  I have been with the FAA for 5 years.   Previously, I was in the Air Force for 8 years, where I was stationed at Vance AFB in Enid, Oklahoma, Osan Air Base in South Korea, and RAF Lakenheath in the U.K.  I was also an air traffic controller in the Air Force.   I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter named Finnavair Barnes, a 3 month old daughter named Kinsey, and a girlfriend named Ricki Barnes.  I have a Bachelor's of Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Professional Aeronautics and a minor in Aviation Safety.  I just finished up my Masters degree from Embry Riddle, in Aeronautical Science with a specialization in Aviation Safety.  Download a zipped copy of my Graduate Capstone Project here, titled

A QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF OPERATIONAL ERRORS IN THE NATIONAL AIRSPACE SYSTEM UTILIZING TEMPORAL MARKER FRAMEWORK.zip

I am working on a Ph.D. in Business Administration through Northcentral University.

I am a member of NATCA, the National Air Traffic Controller's Association.   It is the union that represents controllers in the FAA.  I am the safety representative at Albuquerque ARTCC (ZAB) for NATCA.   NATCA is concerned about safety, particularly in this day and age of an antagonistic FAA upper management team who is attempting to cut costs with no apparent concern with safety.  My concern in air traffic is for the safe and expeditious passage of all aircraft as they fly through my airspace.  Over the past few months, the FAA has been cutting as many corners to save money as possible, including cutting staffing (we are consistently under our authorized staffing numbers on nearly every shift), refusing to replace retiring controllers with no one, shutting down programs and committees that were geared towards safety and sector redesign because they refuse to pay out credit hours for those personnel, and forcing controllers to come to work sick because of alleged sick leave abuse.  In some jobs, employees might be able to get away with working sick, but in a safety critical job such as ATC, I don't believe people would appreciate knowing their controller is under the weather and not working at full capacity.  E-mail me at my NATCA address: dbricker@natca.net.  You can also contact me at my home e-mail address davebricker@cableone.net

I was raised in northern Ohio, therefore I am a massive Ohio State fan, Cleveland Indians fan, and a so/so Cleveland Browns fan (haven't gotten over Art Modell's move to Baltimore).  The Browns suck, Ohio State lost a lot on defense, so it may be a long year, but the Indians started out good (and then faded due to shitty pitching, mainly the bullpen)Not real big on the NBA (lack of offense and boring), but LeBron James is pretty cool.

I'm a video game nut, you can see a list of what I have and am playing (as well as some reviews if I ever get around to it) on my video game page.  I have an XBox (2 of them), PS2 (2 of them), PS1 (2 of them), Gamecube, N64, Dreamcast, PSP, XBox360, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Nintendo DS, and Sega 32X.

Check out my translations page.   It's some tongue-in-cheek humor regarding things people say and what they really mean.
