Feb 2009

  • The Wiedmann family is now 1/3 larger!
I just found two more children of Jakob and Elisabetha (Wagner) Wiedmann in the Rohrbach church records.
The family of Jacob S., Philipp, and John now includes a new brother and sister that we never knew about, bringing the family size to 8 children.

May 2008

  • I found the Samuel/Beata Krause graves in Eureka on Memorial Day weekend, and finally began updating the Krause pages.

February 2008

  • I added some pictures to the Venturia slide show - Kassel Church, Baptist Church, Wiedmann store, and Wiedmann garage.

Fall 2007

  • The information from Mario Schock has led me into contact with Dr. Dennis A. Kastens, who has access to the original church records from Langensoultazbach, Elsass. My correspondence with him is producing original data that confirms our Bender origin and takes us back to the late 1600's.

Summer 2007

  • Late this Spring I was contacted by Mario Schock from Leipzig, Germany who is a distant cousin in our Bender line. An exchange of correspondence with him has led to the discovery of several more generations of our Bender ancestry back to Germany.

I am in the process of confirming the reliability of the information, which would confirm the Elsass origin of the Benders that I first learned in a phone conversation in 1995 with Rev. Ross Merkel who gave me a different family than the one commonly accepted by most Bender researchers.

June 2006

  • Improvements and additions to the Venturia slide show.
  • The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection, NDSU Libraries, Fargo, has set up several albums of my pictures on their web site at the following locations: Bender Krause Wiedmann Lehr Venturia.
NOTE: My photos are listed under "Venturia" near the bottom of the "Photographs" page.

December 2004

  • Please be patient.
I'm in the process of converting the entire site to a whole new look.
Pages still in the old PAF format may not work.
Pages in the newer Legacy format may not yet be updated, but the links should work.
Links in the Surnames and Names indexes have not yet been updated - most will not yet work.

September 2004

  • The Pioneer Cemetery project is resulting in a considerable amount of new Wiedmann information, so almost everything is being updated. It's a huge project, so changes will be made over a period of time. Check back often.
  • Otto Wiedmann obituary added to Recent Family News.

January 2003

  • Many individuals have beened updated and added.
  • I converted my family history program from Personal Ancestral File (PAF) to Legacy 4.0. Legacy has many features that PAF doesn't, including what I think is a better web page format. So far I only have the Wiedmann and Miller ancestors converted to the new format on the web. The rest will be changed ASAP.
  • Ted Striebel obituary added to Recent Family News.
