George Warren died on August 30, 1919, in West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, of brocho pneumonia. -- Mildred Warren
According to what Fred Warren, George Warren's son, told Fred's daughter, Gloria, George Warren was in one of the armed services in Queen Victoria's England. He was stationed at least part of the time in India, where he contracted some kind of lung disease. As a part of his discharge, he was given passage to America and money to start a taxicab company in America, which he did. -- Gloria Warren, Family Group Record.

George Warren, age 30 [born about 1876], English, marital status W [widowed?], and living in Southsea, arrived at Ellis Island, NY, on 1 Sep. 1906, on the ship Philadelphia, having left Southampton, Southamptonshire, England, UK. -- Ellis Island Records.

Thus, he came to America before his wife, Ada Ena Damp, and their children came. George was a chauffeur, and he found a job driving in America. He was a very precise and meticulous man. Every Friday night all the kids' shoes had to be lined up in the kitchen and shined; the military influence. Because of the disease, he was never a well man, and the disease caused him to die early, about 1919. -- Gloria Warren

Dorothy Myers never knew George Warren, but he drove an ambulance for the old West Penn Hospital. -- Jim & Dot Miller

George Alfred Warren was born in England in 1876, resided at 6 Morrow Street, Pittsburgh, PA, died in West Penn Hospital [in Pittsburgh, PA] on August 30, 1919, of broncho pneumonia at the age of 43. He is buried in Sect. 9, Lot 345, Row 2, Gr. 3. -- Mildred Warren

When George Warren died, his wife was unable and his boys were too young to operate the taxicab company. -- Family Group Record.
He was married to Ada Ena (Elizabeth) DAMP before 1898 in England. [Date of marriage before 1898 is just a guess, as first child was born in 1898.] George Warren and Ada Damp's 10 children were all about two years apart. -- Betty Hummel

T.H. Myers lists all 10 children, and in order, except that the first four he lists as May, Alfred George, Ivy Eda, and Harry James. He also says that the first five were born in England, Cora being the first born in the U.S. -- T.H. Myers, Paper #9

Ada Ena Damp came to America after her husband, George Warren, was already there. She sailed from Portsmith, England, with her mother and the 14 other siblings that had already been born by that time. The story is that Ada Ena Damp (m. Warren) had a babe in arms during the passage, and so did her mother, Alice Woodingstahl (m. Damp) have a babe in arms. When she came over is a mystery, but Betty Hummel said that her mother, Ivy Warren, was three years old at the time, and Gloria Warren said that her father, Fred, was two years old at the time. If Ivy were three, the passage was between June 1, 1909 and June 1, 1910. If Fred were two, the passage was between February 21, 1910 and February 21, 1911. If both are true, the passage was between February and June 1910. If Cora Leda Warren were conceived in the U.S., being born Nov. 13, 1910, then the passage had to be nine months earlier in February 1910. -- Gloria Warren

Ada Warren, British and residing in Ryde, England, arrived in the U.S. at Ellis Island on October 4, 1908. Married, she left Southampton, Southamptonshire, England, U.K, on the ship "New York." -- Ellis Island Records.

Because George Warren died in 1919 when the children were all relatively young, most of the children went to work at very early ages. In fact, many of the younger children spent some time in the Calvary Episcopalian Home in Pittsburgh, PA, because it was too much for Ada, their mother. -- Betty Hummel
