Youth Initiative

Northeast Missouri is a community that cares about kids.

People and organizations all across our community are doing things, big and small, that are helping our young people become healthy, caring and productive adults. Working with the Heartland Task Force, the United Way is helping to promote the 40 Developmental Assets that all kids need to become caring responsible adults.

Each summer, the United Way hosts its Kids' Health, Safety & Fitness Expo to provide kids and families with the tools they need.  The Expo features free health screenings, information on local services, great prizes and lots of fun!

In 2008, the United Way worked in partnership with First United Methodist Church and other community partners to make sure students had the school supplies they need to get off to a great start in school.  Over 500 kits were distributed this year.
