How does United Way determine what organizations get funding?
The volunteer board of directors direct the investments of United Way funds in collaborative programs that address one or more community priorities. Some of the top priorities include:  helping at-risk-youth; helping people in crisis; and supporting families in need. 

How do I know that my gift will make a difference?
That’s the great part about United Way. They do the work for you to make sure your contribution goes where it’s needed most. United Way funded programs are held accountable for results. Like an investment advisor, United Way supervises and manages your resources to improve our community…by giving one gift you are helping address many worthwhile causes.

How much of my contribution is used for administrative expenses and national?
Every fundraising program has some administrative costs.  The United Way Board works to keep costs low, and our United Way is among the lowest in the nation. 

Does my contribution stay local?
When you give to United Way, your money goes far, but not far away.  Dollars raised in our community stay in our community. 

I don’t live in Adair County, what does United Way do for me?
United Way provides services to people throughout Northeast Missouri.  You might be surprised to learn how many people in your area have benefited from a United Way program.  Check out the map of our service area to see which United Way programs benefit your community.
