• notes. Notes for Elizabeth's TOWNS:

It is believed that Elizabeth was christened at Leasingham on 7 March, 1816. Possible that John and Mary moved from Aunsby to Leasingham or that Leasingham was convenient for the Christening. (More work required).

In 1841 Census was 20 years old and living at Aunsby, with her father John Towns and brother William, 14. The mother is not listed. (This age conflicts with other Census data; a chance that this is a different Elizabeth than the 1816.17 Elizabeth).

She is described in the 7 April, 1851 census as the School Mistress, aged 34, with the birth location of Boxholme. Shown as the unmarried head of the household, along with her brother William who was described as 24, lodger and laborer.

In the same house was an Elizabeth Weston, widow, aged 64 from Balderton (birth date about. 1787) and her daughter Jane, 32, dob about. 1819. Suspect this was her aunt and cousin.

She appears as the school mistress in an Aunsby hamlet description dated 15 September, 1856. However, she does not appear in the 1861 Census for Aunsby.

In the 1891 Census for Aunsby, she is given as single (meaning never married), head of a household of ODe, 75 years old, living alone on parish relief, with 3 rooms to herself, at Ruskington, which is believed to be the name for an Aunsby house. This is three years before her death in 1894.

Aunsby funeral service and internment on 17 May, 1894 at St. Thomas a Beckett church were presided over by John Dand Todd, Rector.
