Floor & Floor covering

I ended up doing the floor repair myself, with help from my brother an evening or two and loan of his power saw.

Me and power tools, not a pairing that comes to mind easily!

But I did it!  The floor has some areas with water damage, and the more I dug down, the more damage I found.  But the floor is really thick with about 5 layers of wood, foam, and reinforced fiberglass, so once I cut the really bad spots out and patched there, I just covered the entire existing floor with another sub-floor.  So that added another couple of layers with the tile and for the new sub-floor I used those hefty boards that had been on the walls.  The vinyl installer said it was a good job, only the layout wasn't what he would have done.  Apparently there is a pattern to follow.  I did explain that I had used the largest boards over the damaged areas for added strength there, so he admitted I did good.  :)

This is the "Miracle Board" (the darker one, middle to top of photo). I put the largest sheets of plywood over the worst parts of the floor, then filled in the rest of the area as best I could.  When I only needed one more board for this section, I measured then went out to the pile and measured the largest remaining board...

Perfect fit!  I didn't have to cut it at all! And that is almost center of the room, so I figure that gives blessing to the heart of the cabin.  :)  Hey, I've gotta grab whatever inspiration I can! LOL

I knew exactly how to get the vinyl laid correctly - I called professionals!

Underlay was put down, then leveling compound, and the vinyl was cut.

Then came adhesive, the vinyl and wall base.

The last bit of wall base, under the doorway

Ain't it purty?  :)

I had to have the heater in there from just before it was installed, to have the area warm enough for the adhesives and to keep it warm enough for the chemicals to set.  The compounds they used I carefully scrutinized for the chemicals, and I was very pleased with them.  They were all environmentally-safe, petroleum-free, fragrance-free, odor-free and clay and/or silicone based.  The adhesive used is basically water and clay!
