I have owned this car since April of 1982 when I purchased it from the second owner (my Dad) for $1,000. It had about 118,000 miles on it but still was in great shape. It was a stone stock 1965 A code with an automatic transmission, power steering, and power drum brakes. I kept it stone stock for about 20 years in keeping with the Mustangers attitude of the 1980s that any variation from stock parts is a cardinal sin. So I added a factory under dash air conditioner for $100 total including freon (ahh, remember the 80s??) also added 5 styled steel wheels (with white walls no less) and added factory disc brakes to the front end. Added a factory bench front seat (so that all 6 of us could fit in the car in seat belts). I rebuilt the 289 engine in 1990, 0.030 over with hypereutectic forged pistons, balanced the reciprocating assembly, Installed Stainless Steel valves and hardened valve seats, intake and exhaust. Remember when we were afraid of the unleaded gas and what havoc it was going to play on our engines that needed leaded gas?
Then this new resto-mod movement crept into the Mustang Hobby, allowing us to create the car we would have built if we could have ordered it brand new. With the addition of front and rear anti-sway bars, Shelby 10 Spoke wheels, a Shelby Hood scoop, Shelby Side scoops, and a new Wimbledon White paint job with Guards man Blue Le Mans stripes with about 5 coats of clear over the base coats.
Future plans include rack and pinion steering, a 5.0 stoked to 347, an automatic overdrive and maybe a Paxton Supercharger!!! HEY A GUY has to have a dream doesn't he????
