This car is a 1960 Edsel Ranger, 2-hardtop owned by Dave and Jeanette. It is one of 243 built and one of only 82 known to still exist. It has a 352 CI Ford engine and Cruise-a-matic transmission.

At this time Ford motor knew they were going to discontinue the production of the Edsel so they were using the same parts as the Ford cars.

We purchased the car in 1984 in Burley. The body was in poor condition it had a considerable amount of rust which we had to cut panels out and replace. The entire floor of the trunk had to be cut away and replaced with a floor from a parts car we purchased in Nampa. We had the body almost ready for it's paint job when we had to vacate our property on Eagle Road. Knowing it was going to have to sit outside until we rebuilt our shop it received a quick paint job so as not to invite the rust back. It still has that same body and paint job, but we have received one first place and two second place trophies with the car at Regional Edsel meets. The major project left to be completed is the interior which we fully intended to have finished before we took it to another meet but thus far have not managed to get it completed.

In this past year we have rebuilt the engine and transmission. This particular car drives very nice or maybe we should say much better than our 58 model so we use this car as our driver to regional meets. We are planning to take it to the National Edsel meet in Portland this coming summer.

This car is a fun car to take to meets because people will argue with us about what the car really is. They tell us that it is a Canadian Ford, Ford Meteor or something else because the Edsels all had that funny Horse Collar Grille. Sorry folks but this is an Edsel which is a special interest Ford.

Many people call the Edsel's a Edsel Ford or Ford Edsel, again an incorrect term. You wouldn't call a Mercury a Mercury Ford, etc. Edsel was a separate division just like Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury.
